Vegas Pro (stylized as VAGAS Pro) is basically Sonic Foundry, then Sony Creative Software and a video editing software package for non-linear editing (NLE) published by Magix. [4] The software runs on the Windows operating system.

VGAS does not require any specialized hardware to run properly, it allows you to work across almost a wide range of hardware on almost any standard Windows computer.

In terms of combination and speed graphics, Vegas provides a comprehensive tool set with 3D track motion composition with control over Z-depth and spatial arrangement of visual planes with aircraft intersections.

Most visual effects processing in Vegas follows an audio-like instance. Effects can be applied at any stage of the visual signal flow - event level, track level and output level effects such as many reverbe, delay and flange audio effects are applied to digital audio systems like Pro Tools, Cubes or Sonar. Master output effects can also be controlled and managed over time using master bus track automation envelopes.

One major downside of Vegas is that it started out as an audio multitrack NLE but had no MIDI capabilities (except for the control desk and synchronization). It restricts its use to post-production, video NLE market only for audio production.

Features integration with VEGAS 24p DV. It is one of the few NLEs that can convert other formats to 24p (or any other format) without any plugin or third-party application support, and the only proprietary NLE that allows multiple instances of the application to be opened together. Clips and sequences can be copied and pasted into examples of Vegas. An instance can render a sequence in the background while the user is editing at a different event in Vegas in the foreground. VGAS provides sophisticated combinations including green screen, masking and keyframe animation. Nesting allows the previous project to be modified into another project by modulating the editing process so that an array of tracks and edits becomes a track for further editing. Any change from the previous project is reflected in the next project. Nesting is especially helpful in large, complex or special impact projects because the final rendering does not incur any generational losses.

Unlike other editors, MAGIX supports VEGAS Pro scripting technology that provides task automation, simplified workflow, and greater efficiency and productivity. Free and paid pre-written scripts are available from the VGAS community on the web.
